THE JOURNEY FROM JERICHO TO JERUSALEM

I don’t believe in coincidences so I know YHWY is confirming previous messages that we are to go deeper and to get higher. 

My Vision

I found myself following Yashua through a doorway onto a rooftop. He sits down and I sit down beside my Savior because this is a place of peaceful safety. I look as far as my eyes can see and there is a city. I felt this city’s tug at my heart just as the sun was setting. It’s almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream. Its twilight gives a sense of wholeness. Many times in Scripture, we witness a rooftop experience. The rooftop became the unlikely doorway to a miracle. What seemed like a barrier became a place of breakthrough. 

If we look at one of the most unforgettable rooftop moments in Scripture, we find a crippled man, unable to walk, longed to see Jesus but could not reach Him through the crowded house. His friends on the other hand, full of faith, refused to give up. They climbed to the roof, tore it open, and lowered him down at the foot of Jesus (Mark 2:1–12; Luke 5:17–26). From above, this man gained access to the One who forgives sins and heals bodies. 

As I was reading the following words jumped off the page. 

“Face steadfast towards to Jerusalem from Jericho.” Luke 9:51

Jesus left Jericho to head to Jerusalem just hours before he was crucified and taken to heaven. Each one of us must leave our own spiritual Jericho, place of safety and set out towards Jerusalem. Where our inner man faces any mark that’s in the way of our spiritual increase and growth. It’s important to recognize these marks found within our city and they can even be quite simple and yet fundamental for our wholeness which reveals itself as love — patient, spacious, and generous. 

Now what is the rooftop? 

When difficulties arise we must say, "It is necessary for me to get a new spiritual position, to get up on top of this…. [insert your situation]”

Asking yourself, should I go higher?  If we are not going to give up and leave, we need to get above ourselves and get on the rooftop with Yashua where he can guide us to a new perspective.

This new perspective takes us to a place of spiritual enlargement; to know the Lord in a new way, to have more grace, love and patience for those in our lives. 

God places the lonely in families. (Psalm 68:6 NLT)

The rooftop is no longer only about what is lifted high before others; it is about us lifting our lives before Jesus Himself.  What was once a stage for idolatry or panic becomes a place of encounter and access to Christ. This higher position can be found in "Ephesians" being quickened and raised together with Christ and seated in the heavenlies is a matter of relatedness to other believers, and in that relatedness, you are going to find fullness. 

You are never going to find spiritual wholeness just as an isolated, separate individual. That’s a fact! 

We need each other. "God setteth the solitary in families" (Ps. 68:6), and there is no doubt about it, whether or not you understand or accept the doctrine of it, I can prove very quickly that our spiritual increase comes relating to others spiritually. It may sound terrible, but we have a lot of other factors to reckon with before we can fully come together as one body in Christ.  I mean in relationship with other believers and this proves it is not always easy for Christians to get along with one another. 

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

If we were ordinary people in this world, we might get on very well, but being Christians you have the whole force of Satan working against every little bit of your life so he can find a way to steal, kill and destroy. 

He makes it difficult with your Christians friends and family so that they will not find themselves seated in a heavenly positions. There is power when two or more gather together to meet the dark forces aligned with the heavenlies. 

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20

This rub and friction that comes to cross currents that try to divide believers that does not try to divide other people, because there is so much bound up with true spiritual oneness amongst the Lord's people – so much for the Lord, and so much against Satan. 

Satan is going to break-up that spiritual oneness if he can. He knows what that means for him, and the Lord knows what that means for Himself – and hence the special and extra difficulties when it is a case of Christians getting along, especially for a long time. So to win this battle to support and live among each other, we must access Yashua from the Rooftop.

This message paints a picture for us today: the “rooftop” is more than a symbol of visibility — it’s also an access point to Jesus. Just as the paralyzed man’s friends used the rooftop to reach Him, we too must approach Him from above for our friends, and family.

• Our Worship: Every song, prayer, or lifted hand tears through the ceiling of this world’s noise and allows us to meet before Jesus.
• Our Daily Actions: Like Rahab’s ordinary rooftop became a hiding place for God’s people, our routines can become platforms of obedience that bring us closer to Him.
• Our Words: When we declare God’s truth openly, we are like those friends lowering a life into the presence of Christ — words become ropes of faith.

What “rooftop” in our lives is opening the way for us and others to come before Jesus? Notice today where love wants to be born in you. Perhaps in forgiveness, or gentleness, patience or courage.  

Prayer

Heavenly Father, search the rooftop of our hearts and souls. If we have lifted up anything higher than You, tear it down. If we’ve panicked or clung to earthly things, give us courage to obey without delay. If we are offended or have offended our heavenly brother or sister, meet us at the rooftop to face your whispers of truth to us, give us boldness to proclaim it from the housetops. Let our lives be a visible testimony that You alone are God. In Jesus’ Name I pray Amen. 🕊️
